This original design came in to being by experimenting with lines, right angles and mathmatical proportions. Interestingly, a Chinese style motif was the result.

When this gate is collapsed the motif is transformed into two perfectly aligned half moons. Hinges on the center allow this door to fold in half. A unique locking mechanism was designed to allow the gate to be closed and locked from the left side.

  • Tree Door - Carved
    Tree Door - Carved
This design serves as a testament to the ideals of reconstructionism. True functional sculpture has been achieved. The material represents a sacrafice, homage is paid to this natural material by means of reconstructionism.
  • Antique Gum-wood sliding wall
    Antique Gum-wood sliding wall
Designed for a basement recording studio, this door was constructed from reclaimed antique gumwood that was removed from a house, built in the 1860s, which stood on the south corner of Bay and Breadalbane in downtown Toronto, Ontario. This antique wood is richly figured, tight-grained, and has a lovely colour. A finish of clear walnut oil has been applied allowing the natural colour to show through.
  • Gum-wood Door Back - Oak Paneled
Gum-wood Door Back - Oak Paneled
The door was designed to allow the largest possible opening from the studio into the room behind it which contains a large window. It is 7ft high and 5ft wide and recesses into a pocket in the wall. Heavy duty barn door hardware suspends the door on its 10ft track. Both the door and the wall are acoustically insulated to prevent noise bleed from coming into the recording equipment room. The black trim and jam can be easily removed to allow door removal and access to wall pocket for cleaning and maintenance.
